Result Announcement of IFLA Memorial Garden Design Competition
The Korea Forest Service announced the winning design for the IFLA Memorial Garden Design Competition on November 12, 2021.
Five renowned garden designers and landscape architects worldwide were invited for the competition, and one winning proposal was selected to be built in Sejong National Arboretum next Spring.
The competition titled ‘Garden Legacy’ aimed to commemorate the spirit of IFLA that seeks to solve environmental problems through worldwide communication and cooperation while finding the attitude and wisdom to solve the local problems. Also, the competition had a goal to showcase the remarkable development of Korean landscape architecture.
The winning proposal, ‘People’s Garden, Nature’s Garden,’ designed by Seongjong Yoo (Livescape) represents careful consideration of the relationship between mankind and nature. It delivers a well-balanced message about creating and preserving.
All five proposals will be exhibited at the IFLA World Congress 2022 in Gwangju, Korea along with the collection of designers’ interviews.
